Job summary

IMRIS is seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer for MR system hardware integration in North Billerica, MA. The role emphasizes system integration, RF coil testing, and safety compliance across engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in electrical engineering or medical devices, with hands-on use of oscilloscopes, VNAs, and spectrum analyzers, and knowledge of IEC 60601-1 safety standards. On-site position with no relocation offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, system integration, or medical device development.
• Strong understanding of grounding, RF shielding, EMI/EMC and troubleshooting.
• Experience mitigating ground loops, electrical noise and signal integrity issues at subsystem and system levels.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, VNAs, and spectrum analyzers.
• Knowledge of IEC 60601-1 electrical safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical integration and troubleshooting of MR research systems and hardware in power cabinet, cabling, and magnet assembly.
• Design, evaluate, and test electrical and electromechanical subsystems supporting MR functionality.
• Perform RF coil integration, tuning, matching and basic RF measurements.
• Investigate grounding, shielding, EMI/EMC, and ground loop issues affecting performance and image quality.
• Develop and execute system-level verification and performance test protocols; support safety compliance per IEC 60601-1.
• Collaborate with RF, software, systems, and mechanical engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain BOMs and engineering documentation.
