Job summary

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is seeking a Motor Equipment Operator II with Water & Sewer Services to perform line maintenance and construction. The role involves operating a variety of heavy machinery, ensuring safe and efficient work under supervision.

Responsibilities include street cleaning with a sweeper, trenching with backhoe, setting poles, snow removal, and aiding in general maintenance. A valid CDL and pre-employment checks are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or GED and some experience in operation of trucks or heavy equipment.
• Possession of a valid Class A commercial driver's license.
• Pre-employment DOT physical, drug screening and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Operates a street sweeper to clean streets in the assigned area.
• Operates rubber tire backhoe for trenching, loading, backfilling.
• Operates winch truck for pulling and setting poles/guard rails, hauling materials.
• Operates track loader/front-end loader to load materials and snow removal.
• Drives large dump truck, tractor and trailer, rear-loader or crane truck.
• Instructs lower level operators in operation and servicing of equipment.
• Performs maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• May substitute on heavier equipment when required.
• Performs related tasks as needed.
