Job summary

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is seeking a Motor Equipment Operator I (Downtown Maintenance) in the Public Works Department to operate trucks, mowing equipment and related automotive equipment for maintenance and construction of public facilities.

Employees may perform manual labor and routine maintenance, following established procedures. A valid Class A CDL is required; pre-employment DOT physical, drug screening and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of a standard grade school course, preferably completion of high school.
• Some experience in the operation and routine servicing of trucks or related automotive equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and mowing equipment to transport men or materials and maintain/public facilities.
• Perform manual labor incidental to the job such as loading and unloading equipment and performing unskilled or semiskilled maintenance tasks.
• Follow well-established routines and work under direction; uphold safety and care of equipment.
