Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Secondary Driving System within Embodied AI. You will design and implement production‑quality C++ across the autonomy stack, focusing on motion planning and robust controls for fail‑operational behavior.

Collaborate with perception, state estimation, vehicle dynamics, and safety teams to deliver reliable SDS features for current and future GM products. Remote/hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in CS/Robotics/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or real-time/control systems.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++14/17+) with large codebases; Python for tooling.
• Experience in motion planning and controls (trajectory generation, MPC/LQR, etc.).
• Experience integrating perception/prediction pipelines with planning and controls.

Responsibilities

• Develop production-grade C++ software across the SDS stack, integrating ML-based perception with planners and controllers.
• Design planning and controls algorithms for the Secondary Driving System.
• Collaborate with state estimation, mapping, localization, and autonomy teams to define interfaces and contracts.
• Own features end-to-end: requirements, design reviews, implementation, simulation/bring-up, testing, iteration.
