Job summary

Focus People is seeking a Senior Mortgage Underwriter in Atlanta, GA to support a state government housing and community development program. The role requires reviewing and evaluating residential mortgage loan files to determine eligibility, creditworthiness, compliance, and lending risk.

Ideal candidates will have extensive underwriting experience, strong knowledge of lending guidelines, and the ability to analyze complex loan files independently to make sound decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Real Estate, or related field and mortgage underwriting experience.
• Progressively responsible underwriting experience, including complex loan file decisions.
• Strong knowledge of residential mortgage underwriting principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive underwriting reviews of residential mortgage loan applications and supporting documentation.
• Analyze borrower income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and other financial information to determine loan eligibility.
• Review loan files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with guidelines.
• Evaluate credit reports, income documentation, bank statements, tax returns, appraisals, title documentation.
• Determine whether applicants meet program requirements and underwriting guidelines.
• Communicate conditions and document necessary actions for loan approval.
