Job summary

United Wholesale Mortgage is seeking an Associate General Counsel to support regulatory and legal matters, oversee title-related legal projects, and manage loan-level litigation. This on-site role at our Pontiac, MI headquarters requires extensive litigation experience and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include pre-litigation work, vendor relationship reviews, and providing training to teams while staying compliant with evolving mortgage regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have Michigan Bar licensed attorney.
• Litigation experience required.
• Experience overseeing and litigating servicing and loan-level cases.
• Experience in corporate legal work.
• Experience in mortgage banking, banking, loan servicing, or financial industry.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Effective planning, organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Focus on Mortgage Servicing Litigation.
• Provide business support on regulatory and legal matters.
• Interpret legislation and regulations affecting mortgage brokers and lenders.
• Review business relationships with vendors.
• Conduct legal research on unique issues impacting the organization.
• Stay abreast of legislative changes affecting the Company.
• Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
• Provide legal training to Company team members.
