Job summary

Allstate is seeking a Senior MongoDB Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate our enterprise MongoDB environments across on‑premises infrastructure and Atlas PaaS. You will lead deployments, upgrades, and operational excellence for highly available databases.

You will drive automation, performance tuning, security controls, and disaster recovery planning while collaborating with application teams and platform engineers to ensure resilience and scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

10+ years in database-related roles.
8+ years MongoDB administration in production.
Strong Linux administration (RHEL preferred).
Deep knowledge of MongoDB architecture, replication, sharding, security, and performance tuning.
Experience with Atlas and on‑prem deployments, backups, DR, and capacity planning.
Ability to communicate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate enterprise MongoDB environments across on‑prem and Atlas.
Lead upgrades, patching, migrations, and lifecycle activities.
Define topology, storage, networking, and capacity configurations.
Develop automation for provisioning, deployment, and backup processes.
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership for MongoDB initiatives.
Ensure security controls, compliance, and on‑call readiness.
