Job summary

Quevera is seeking a Senior MongoDB Database Engineer to design, develop, and maintain databases for enterprise security automation initiatives in Linthicum, Maryland. A TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required to support Secure the Enterprise projects.

You will optimize performance, implement replication/sharding, and ensure data security across cloud and on-prem environments. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, with strong Python and database administration skills.

Job Description:

Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Senior MongoDB Database Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support the Secure the Enterprise initiative in Linthicum, Maryland.

As part of the Secure the Enterprise initiative, you will help develop capabilities to shift the current manual system security evaluation and authorization process to a new model that emphasizes automation, streamlined processes and approvals, continuous monitoring and assessment, and network data gathering across the entire life cycle of a project.

In this role, you will design, develop, implement, and maintain databases supporting enterprise security automation initiatives while supporting information storage and retrieval, data flow, analysis, optimization, and database administration activities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain MongoDB databases supporting enterprise security automation initiatives.
• Support database information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis activities.
• Analyze and evaluate system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts.
• Design and implement complex database systems using queries, collections, and database storage and retrieval using cloud methodologies.
• Optimize database performance, including indexing strategies, query optimization, and resource utilization.
• Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Configure replication, sharding, and high-availability solutions.
• Design the overall database structure to fit within the system architecture.
• Create new workflows to automate existing processes and provide break/fix requests or updates.
• Lead development of database structures, database parser software, and database loading software.
• Monitor database health, performance metrics, and security compliance.
• Direct fulfillment of requirements from project inception through conclusion.
• Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including document schemas, collection relationships (embedding vs. referencing), indexing strategies, sharding configuration, and data access patterns.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of Database Engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
• Python programming experience.
• Experience with database administration, configuration, and management using relational and/or NoSQL/document-oriented databases.
• Strong understanding of database concepts, including indexing, query optimization, backup/recovery, replication, and security.

Desired Skills:

• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, strongly preferred.
• Experience with MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise databases.
• Experience using Django or Flask.
• REST API design and implementation experience.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
• AWS, C2S, or other cloud experience; MongoDB Atlas experience is a plus.
• Experience using Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs.
• Experience with JSON and/or XML serialization.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence.Experience with Agile methodology.
• MongoDB certification or willingness to obtain within six (6) months.
• Experience migrating from relational to NoSQL databases.
