Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the next generation of the monetization data platform. You will own high-impact backend services end to end, from architecture through testing, deployment, and operation.

This hands-on role involves solving ambiguous business problems, designing durable systems, and partnering closely with Product, Data, Finance, Accounting, and GTM to translate needs into scalable technical solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with production systems or distributed services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services powering pricing, billing, ads, payments, and monetization workflows.
• Own architecture and implementation of monetization data workflows and data contracts.
• Ensure correctness, availability, security, performance, and observability of critical systems.
• Develop reusable platform capabilities and developer tools for product teams to launch and iterate monetization features.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, Finance, Accounting, and GTM to translate needs into robust technical solutions.
• Lead cross-functional projects with clear RFCs and thoughtful tradeoffs to balance velocity and reliability.
• Improve monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, capacity planning, and long-term remediation.
• Mentor engineers, review architecture and code, and share knowledge across teams.
