Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Data Engineer to strengthen the monetization data platform. You will own end-to-end data pipelines, from instrumentation to canonical modeling and delivery to downstream consumers, while partnering with Product Engineering, Finance, Accounting, and GTM teams.

This hands-on role emphasizes building durable architectures, data quality, and scalable data products to enable reliable monetization decisions across the company.

Qualifications

• Deep experience building and operating production data platforms and large data pipelines.
• Strong fundamentals in data modeling, architecture, and distributed systems.
• Experience with data quality, lineage, governance, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large streaming and batch data pipelines processing diverse data sources.
• Develop canonical data models and reusable data products for monetization domains.
• Establish guarantees for data accuracy, completeness, freshness, lineage, and auditability.
• Build frameworks and platform capabilities to improve developer productivity and data product delivery.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define data contracts and translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Lead the technical design and delivery of complex cross-functional projects with RFCs and tradeoffs.
• Improve observability, incident response, and long-term remediation of data workflows.
• Promote engineering excellence with documentation and knowledge sharing.
