Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a skilled Operations Supervisor at the Sierrita facility near Tucson, AZ. The role oversees production shifts, ensures safety compliance, and coordinates with maintenance, engineering and other teams to meet the production plan.

Candidates should have a strong supervisory background in mining or mineral processing, a relevant technical degree or equivalent experience, and a proven ability to manage budgets and safety programs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience, OR
• Bachelor's degree in a technical mining related discipline and three (3) years of operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience
• Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
• Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects
• Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Ensure continued operations of production shifts through execution of the production plan and schedules
• Provide Operations input for production and maintenance planning
• Ensure adherence to correct safety and operating procedures and compliance with appropriated federal and state laws and regulations
• Inspect assigned work units to ensure schedules and objectives are attained
• Coordinate daily with other Operational and staff areas, including but not limited to Maintenance, Processing, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Sales
• Directly supervise first-line or shift Supervisors
• Perform other duties as required
