Job summary

Centessa Pharmaceuticals seeks an experienced Senior Advisor, Molecular Pharmacology to provide scientific leadership at the Associate Director level for neuroscience discovery and development programs. Lead pharmacology strategies, guide experiments across systems, and translate findings into program decisions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a PhD with 5+ years of industry experience, deep pharmacology expertise, and strong mentoring and communication skills.

Qualifications

• PhD in Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or a closely related scientific discipline with substantial industry experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong foundation in molecular pharmacology and receptor biology.
• Experience developing scientific strategy and addressing complex drug discovery questions.
• Ability to integrate data across experimental systems and disciplines.
• Experience mentoring scientists and directing collaborative research activities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership and strategic direction for molecular pharmacology activities.
• Develop pharmacology strategies and experimental plans for activity, signaling, and translation.
• Design and interpret pharmacological studies using recombinant, endogenous, and native systems.
• Characterize therapeutic compounds using functional, binding, and cellular methods.
• Identify scientific questions and approaches to inform program decisions.
• Integrate data across systems to develop clear conclusions and recommendations.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemistry, in vivo pharmacology, and translational sciences.
• Establish productive scientific partnerships with internal and external collaborators.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex scientific challenges.
• Mentor scientists and foster a rigorous, collaborative environment.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and apply them to advance programs.
• Communicate strategy, results, and recommendations to project teams.
