Job summary

Summit Polymers is seeking a Department Manager, Molding to lead a 5-day/24-hour tier one molding operation with 40 machines. You will manage supervisors, ensure on-time delivery and quality for downstream paint and assembly, and drive continuous improvement across safety, productivity and equipment maintenance.

The role demands a college engineering degree, 5 years in molding engineering, 2 years of supervision, and strong leadership with the ability to mentor staff and collaborate

Qualifications

• College engineering degree required.
• Five years experience as an engineer in molding.
• Two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership, coaching and decision-making abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Meets performance objectives for safety, productivity, machine operational availability, change over time, scrap, and delivery.
• Manages proper staffing and machine loading.
• Ensures proper training of all employees and mentors supervisors and other key personnel to maintain a competent workforce.
• Fosters team cohesiveness, morale, and motivation and a culture of excellence by acting as a hands-on leader.
• Sets a proper safety example and ensures 5S cleanliness is maintained.
• Ensures machines and auxiliary equipment are maintained.
• Collaborates with molding engineers, tooling and maintenance on continuous improvement to reduce scrap and cycle times.
• Supports lean manufacturing with inventory focus and waste reduction.
