Position: Senior Mold Technician

Department: Production/Maintenance

Reports To: Plant Manager

Location: Colfax, NC

Overview:

Tenn Tex Plastics, a leader in the injection molding industry and part of the Marmon Holdings family, is seeking a Senior Mold Technician with 5+ years of hands-on mold and processing experience. This individual will play a critical role in mold setup, maintenance, and process optimization to ensure consistent, high-quality production. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in troubleshooting, experienced with injection molding equipment and materials, and capable of mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform and oversee complex mold changes, setups, and machine adjustments in accordance with production schedules.
• Lead troubleshooting and processing adjustments to resolve mold and molding issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring consistent quality.
• Set, monitor, and refine processing parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, injection speed, cooling time) for optimal cycle time and part integrity.
• Inspect, clean, and conduct in-depth maintenance on molds to ensure they are in excellent working condition.
• Guide and assist in mold installation and precision alignment using advanced tools and measuring equipment.
• Work closely with process engineers and quality assurance to analyze production data and implement improvements.
• Train and mentor junior mold technicians in both mechanical and processing best practices.
• Maintain detailed records of mold setups, repairs, and processing changes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while adhering to all company safety standards.
• Effectively communicate equipment concerns, process inefficiencies, and improvement suggestions to supervisors and relevant departments.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mold technology, plastics processing, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mold Technician in an injection molding environment, including hands-on processing responsibilities.
• Extensive knowledge of injection molding machines, tools, and thermoplastic materials.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a proven ability to resolve both mechanical and process-related issues.
• Proficient in using measuring tools, interpreting blueprints, and following technical documentation.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and performing tasks such as standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery, noise, and temperature variations.

• Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
