Job summary

MME group Inc. seeks an experienced Tool Maker to join our Minnesota manufacturing team. The role involves training peers, assembling complex molds, and ensuring timely project completion.

You will work with Tooling Engineers, CNC Machinists, and EDM Machinists to deliver high-precision molds and implement efficient manufacturing procedures. The candidate should have a strong background in mold making, CNC milling and EDM processes, plus proficiency with Mastercam and CAD/prints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of technical or trade school with emphasis on tool making.
• 5+ years of mold making experience in a tool shop environment with precision grinding.
• At least 2 years’ experience with CNC milling, EDM, and Wire EDM.
• Strong math skills and ability to read 3D CAD designs and 2D prints.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor fellow Tool Makers as needed.
• Take responsibility for ensuring jobs are completed on time.
• Collaborate with Tooling Engineers, CNC Machinists, and EDM Machinists.
• Independently assemble molds to meet customer approval.
• Plan and schedule jobs to meet delivery timelines.
• Disassemble and troubleshoot mold issues and develop action plans.
• Perform inspection procedures with minimal supervision.
• Wire complete runner-less molds independently.
• Calculate timing for rack-and-gear molds and assemble with hydraulic cylinders.
• Safely operate shop equipment without supervision.
• Prepare prints or sketches and communicate scope to vendors.
• Operate Mastercam on a computer.
• Develop procedures for efficiency improvements on machine tools.
• Wear safety equipment.
• Participate in tool design reviews and quoting activities.
• Troubleshoot molds at the press.
• Order components for mold repair and maintenance.
• Fit parting lines and shutoffs for injection and LSR molds.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the lead.
