Job summary
Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Modeling & Simulation Integration in Huntsville to support NASA’s Space Launch System and Artemis missions. You will manage Design Math Models across the lifecycle, review metadata, and provide technical concurrence for SLS applications, collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines.
The role requires 15+ years of experience in modeling and simulation, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive process improvements across teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Industrial, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field from ABET-accredited college; or a related technical field such as CS, Mathematics, Physics.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience.
- Must be a US Citizen and have a STAR ID.
- Extensive experience applying modeling & simulation throughout an engineering/product lifecycle.
- Experience with verification, validation, accreditation/certification, or credibility assessment of models & simulations.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills; ability to derive defensible conclusions from incomplete data.
- Ability to decompose complex problems and coordinate across organizations.
- Experience developing or improving engineering processes/workflows.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Systems Engineering representative to SLS DMM Task Teams.
- Review DMM metadata for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and traceability.
- Participate in technical reviews of DMMs and related docs.
- Evaluate model pedigree, configuration, validation evidence, and supporting data.
- Provide SE concurrence that DMMs and metadata meet objectives for SLS applications.
- Review proposed models and simulations and perform criticality assessments.
- Support verification, validation, accreditation, and credibility activities.
- Apply SE principles to manage models, data, requirements, and configurations.
- Coordinate with CM/DM, software teams, and stakeholders for consistency.
- Investigate technical data to reconstruct history, identify gaps, and draw conclusions.
- Develop and improve SE processes/workflows for model mgmt and integration.
- Facilitate resolution of complex technical/organizational issues.
