Senior Modeling & Simulation Engineer
C++ / Missile Defense
Huntsville, A
Estimated Salary: $110,000 - $135,000 / Yearly
U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
We are seeking a Senior Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer to support Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Joint Integrated Fire Control and Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) mission engineering programs. This role requires 5-10 years of engineering experience, C++ simulation development, system model integration, and an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance. This role supports the development, integration, and execution of high-fidelity simulations to evaluate end-to-end missile defense mission effectiveness. Engineers will analyze sensor-to-shooter engagement chains, threat kinematics, interceptor performance, and fire control architectures to support data-driven defense system modernization and investment decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, code, and test high-fidelity mathematical models and simulations of IAMD systems, including sensors, interceptors, and threat kinematics.
- Develop and integrate C++ simulation models into complex mission engineering and missile defense architectures.
- Integrate system models into real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and non-real-time constructive simulation environments.
- Manage simulation timing, model data exchange, and data collection pipelines to support integrated system performance analysis.
- Develop automated analysis tools and scripts to process large simulation datasets, conduct sensitivity analyses, and evaluate mission effectiveness.
- Perform trade-space analyses of sensor-to-shooter engagement chains, fire control closures, weapon flyouts, and interceptor lethality.
- Evaluate Integrated Air and Missile Defense architectures under varying operational scenarios to quantify end-to-end system performance.
- Translate mission architectures and operational scenarios into quantitative simulation results supporting defense system investment and modernization decisions.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required by law or government contract
- Active Secret Security Clearance required, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- 5-10 years of applied engineering experience focused on modeling and simulation (M&S), engineering analysis, and analytical tool development.
- Strong C++ programming experience developing, coding, testing, and integrating engineering simulation models.
- Experience integrating models into larger simulation architectures, including data exchange, simulation timing, and post-run data collection and analysis.
- Experience analyzing sensor-to-shooter engagement chains, fire control closures, and integrated defense system architectures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docker, Podman, or similar containerization technologies for modeling and simulation applications.
- Experience with Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) architectures and platforms.
- Familiarity with the Joint Track Management Capability Bridge.
- Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) simulation frameworks, including AFSIM, FSI, DIS, or similar environments.
- Familiarity with translating operational scenarios and kill-web architectures into quantitative simulation environments.
- Experience with Python, Java, MATLAB, GitLab, and/or Linux.
