Job summary

Elbit America in Roanoke, Virginia, seeks a Senior Modeling Engineer to develop, validate, and apply advanced computational models for next-generation sensor and system technologies. You will lead modeling methodologies, simulations, and data interpretation across engineering teams.

The role requires PhD or MS with extensive ANSYS multi-physics experience, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to mentor others.

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering or related field, or MS with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience relating simulation results to experimental data and physical behavior.
• Hands-on ANSYS multi-physics experience, including EM, Structural, Fluid Dynamics, surface/atomic-scale phenomena.
• Demonstrated history of moving models from concept to physical implementation.
• Strong ability to explain physical phenomena verbally and in writing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced multi-physics models using ANSYS for sensor/system design.
• Correlate modeling results with experimental data for accuracy and reliability.
• Collaborate with experimental, design, and systems teams to guide prototypes and development.
• Translate complex phenomena into clear insights for stakeholders.
• Drive transition from models to functional hardware with validated fidelity.
• Document approaches, assumptions, and results; present to teams and leadership.
• Conduct advanced numerical analysis using FE/CFD/MBD or similar tools.
• Mentor junior engineers in modeling practices and tools.
• Evaluate new tools and techniques to improve simulation capabilities.
• Communicate results and limitations clearly to stakeholders.
