Job summary

Colonial Group in New Jersey seeks a Driver to operate mobility buses, escort members on and off vehicles, and provide safe, courteous transport to centers and medical appointments. Responsibilities include inspections, documenting routes, and assisting members with special needs, with emphasis on safety and dependable service.

A valid license and DOT readiness are required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred; 21+ yrs old and able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Prior driver experience preferred but not required.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds; assist with on/off-boarding.
• Valid driver’s license and state/vehicle-specific credentials.
• Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.
• Experience with seniors/adults with special needs preferred.
• Flexible schedule ability.
• Able to pass DOT physical exams.
• Background check and DMV requirements satisfied.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow maintenance and fueling schedules.
• Assist members with on-/off-boarding and with special needs during transport.
• Ensure members are safely secured in the vehicle and transported promptly.
• Maintain and document vehicle information such as route, mileage, and fuel.
• Communicate professionally with members, families, and staff.
• Report issues to supervisor or center director and follow policies.
