Job summary

Colonial Group in Greenville, SC seeks a full-time driver to operate and maintain mobility buses, ensuring safe, courteous door-to-door transport for members to centers, appointments, and activities. You will escort members in all weather, assist with on- and off-boarding, and support center staff while upholding safety and service standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, 21+ years old, valid driver’s license, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Prior experience working as a driver preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and state/vehicle-specific driver credentials.
• Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
• Able to work a flexible schedule.
• Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds; able to routinely and repeatedly exit and enter the vehicle to assist members with on- and off-boarding.
• Able to pass required physical exams including DOT exam.
• Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing and any other state-specific requirements.
• Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.
• Where applicable, certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and PASS are required and will be facilitated as part of job training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow maintenance and fueling schedules; ensure wheelchair lifts and tie-downs are operating properly and report issues.
• Routinely share insights with coworkers to ensure best practices for onboarding/off-boarding and transport.
• Assist members with on- and off-boarding and with any special needs during transport; ensure safe seating and timely transport.
• Maintain vehicle information including route, mileage, fuel, and service records.
• Maintain and secure company property including vehicle, phone and fuel cards.
• Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members, families, coworkers and referrals.
• Deliver information to family members as requested.
• Report issues or unusual occurrences to the lead driver or supervisor.
• Comply with policies, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
• Assist coordinators/director in identifying operational efficiencies to enhance member experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
