Panera Bread is seeking a Sr. Manager, Software Engineer - Mobile to lead the Android team and set technical direction for a broad mobile portfolio. The role expands to iOS and React Native within months, building a unified mobile platform with a strong focus on delivery quality and platform health.

You will collaborate with architects, product, and design to translate goals into actionable plans, while scaling the team and maintaining high engineering standards. Hybrid work in St. Louis, MO.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional mobile development experience with strong, hands-on Android native experience and increasing leadership responsibility.
• Ready to take on management and delivery for iOS and React Native within 3–6 months in addition to Android leadership.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and owning delivery outcomes.
• Strong foundation in scalable, maintainable software design and architecture.
• Deep proficiency in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDKs, Git, and Android build tooling.
• Working knowledge of Java and XML layouts for legacy support.
• Hands-on experience with modern Android architecture patterns (MVVM/MVP) and threading models.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery models and Jira.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across product, design, and platform teams.
• Experience establishing testing/quality standards including automated tests and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Android engineering team at Panera Bread, expanding to iOS and React Native within 3–6 months.
• Own delivery, performance, and technical health of mobile initiatives across platforms.
• Provide architectural direction and guide design discussions for mobile apps.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, feedback, and career progression for engineers.
• Partner with product, design, and platform teams to translate business goals into executable plans.
• Ensure mobile security, compliance, and quality standards, including CI/CD practices.
