Job summary

HandsUp is seeking a senior mobile engineer to build iOS and Android apps with encryption, real-time media, and reliable background processing. You will own significant portions of the app architecture and ship features end to end for both platforms.

You will collaborate with the co-founder of engineering and a product manager, targeting iOS Swift/SwiftUI and Android Kotlin/Jetpack Compose. This is a remote role in the United States with equity and strong pay.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mobile engineering experience
• Fluent in iOS and Android platforms
• Experience with cryptography and end-to-end encryption
• Proven ability to ship apps to App Store and Play Store
• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills

Responsibilities

• Build core features end-to-end for iOS (Swift, SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose)
• Own real-time media capture pipelines and cryptographic signing
• Implement client-side AES-256 encryption with secure key management
• Build resilient background uploads and cloud sync
• Mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction
