Nayax, a global fintech leader, is hiring a Senior Mobile Engineer, Charging, to join our on-site hardware team in Schenectady, NY. You will build native Android modules in Kotlin to extend React Native apps and enable communication with charging hardware via a 40-pin connector.

You will design typed JS/TS interfaces, define app-to-hardware protocols with embedded teams, and maintain modules through React Native and Android SDK upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field.
• 6+ years of professional software development; 4+ years Android development in Kotlin.
• Experience writing native modules for React Native or similar frameworks (e.g., Flutter platform channels or Capacitor plugins).
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and React Native's native layer (JSI, Codegen, bridge).
• Experience integrating Android with hardware over serial/UART, GPIO or USB.
• Understanding of Android threading, coroutines, permissions.
• Familiarity with Scrum/Kanban and the full SDLC.
• Clear communication with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders; good task management.
• Willingness to work onsite at Schenectady, NY.

Responsabilités

• Build and maintain native Android modules in Kotlin for React Native apps, exposing charger hardware to JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Implement local communication over the 40-pin connector between Android devices and charger hardware.
• Work with Android APIs for hardware interfaces (serial/UART, GPIO) and ensure reliable field communication.
• Design typed JS/TS interfaces for native modules with clear events and error handling.
• Define app-to-hardware protocols with embedded and hardware teams.
• Package, version, and document native modules; keep them current with React Native/Android SDK upgrades.
• Build test harnesses, simulators and tests for native-to-hardware flows.
