Job summary

NextGear Capital seeks an experienced Senior Mobile Engineer to own native mobile features and contribute to AI-augmented development across the SDLC. You’ll collaborate with product, design, backend, and fellow mobile engineers to deliver high-quality Android applications and AI-enhanced workflows.

You will work in the Carmel, Indiana office three days a week, focusing on secure, performant mobile experiences while advancing engineering practices and tool adoption within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 4 years’ experience, or equivalent combos.
• AI-Augmented Mindset: advanced use of AI coding assistants across the SDLC.
• Mobile Ecosystem Awareness: REST APIs, backend services, authentication patterns, and relational data models.
• Problem Solving: analytical and architectural judgement.
• Native Mobile Development: experience with Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) or iOS.
• Version Control & Collaboration: fluent Git workflows.
• Observability: logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI agents and tools to build, test, and deploy native mobile software across the SDLC.
• Contribute to prompt engineering experimentation and share tool usage insights.
• Engage in design and development discussions for mobile outcomes.
• Assist with feature estimation in terms of technical input and time.
• Develop and implement unit and system tests for critical code paths.
• Provide technical support for existing and new features.
• Use observability tools to monitor app health and verify production behavior.
• Align mobile work with architectural standards (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose).
• Understand backend APIs and their impact on mobile behavior.
• Document processes and capture best practices for repeatability.
• Update team and stakeholders on status and challenges.
• Participate in code reviews.
