NextGear Capital is seeking a Mobile Engineer II to build and evolve native mobile experiences. You will work with a product and engineering team to deliver modern Android apps, collaborate with AI tools, and own features from concept to delivery in a hybrid in-office role in Carmel, Indiana.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• AI-augmented mindset with efficient use of AI coding tools across the SDLC.
• Strong problem solving and analytical judgment.
• Solid mobile ecosystem knowledge including REST APIs and backend services.
• Demonstrated experience with native Android (Kotlin) or iOS development.
• Proficient Git workflows and collaboration practices.
• Excellent communication of technical tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Willingness to work in office three days per week in Carmel, Indiana.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI agents to build, test, and deploy software across the SDLC.
• Contribute to prompt engineering and share tool usage insights with the team.
• Engage in design and development discussions and plan outcomes.
• Assist with feature estimation including technical input, resources, time, and outcomes.
• Develop unit and system tests, ensuring secure coding practices.
• Provide technical support and enhancements for existing and new features.
• Use observability tools to monitor health and validate changes in production.
• Document processes and best practices for repeatability.
• Update stakeholders on status, challenges, and concerns.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback.
• Take ownership of assigned work and drive to completion.
