Job summary

UF Health in Jacksonville seeks a dedicated MLS technologist for a full-time role at our Intracoastal location. The incumbent will perform diverse laboratory procedures, ensure specimen integrity, and report critical results in a fast-paced setting.

Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, Florida Technologist License, and 1 year of MLS experience. Preferred: ASCP/MLS certification and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, or related field.
• Experience: 1 year in MLS NAACLS approved program or as a Technologist in a hospital lab.
• Florida Technologist License in appropriate area(s) required.
• Preferred: National Certification (ASCP)/MT or MLS (ASCP) certification MT.
• Color vision test or assessment required by Employee Health.

Responsibilities

• Receive and manage specimens with correct labeling and policy compliance.
• Perform moderate to high complexity procedures in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, immunohematology and molecular areas.
• Perform quality control testing and analyze data to ensure accurate results.
• Operate complicated laboratory analyzers and document checks and maintenance.
• Review turnaround times and report normal and abnormal results.
• Provide clinical instruction; train new employees.
• Evaluate new instruments and techniques; participate in quality improvements.
• Attend staff meetings and adhere to confidentiality and policies.
