Job summary

UF Health Emergency & Urgent Care - Intracoastal in Jacksonville is seeking a skilled MLS technologist to perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, operate analyzers, and provide data for patient diagnosis and treatment. This on-site PRN role requires a Bachelor’s in MLS or related field and ideally 1 year of MLS program or hospital lab experience, plus Florida licensure.

Preferred candidates may hold ASCP/MT or MLS (ASCP) certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, or related field.
• 1 year in MLS NAACLS program or 1 year as a Technologist in a hospital laboratory.
• Florida Technologist License in appropriate area(s).
• Preferred: ASCP/MT or MLS (ASCP) certification MT/ABHI/CHS-CHT.

Responsibilities

• Receive and label specimens per policy; prioritize and accept/reject specimens.
• Perform moderate to high complexity procedures across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, immunohematology and molecular areas.
• Perform quality control testing and analyze data; prepare stains, reagents, media and solutions.
• Operate complex laboratory analyzers; document instrument checks and repairs.
• Review results and report normal/abnormal findings.
• Provide clinical instruction; train new employees and evaluate new instruments/techniques.
• May supervise staff and review test results of technical staff.
• Attend staff meetings; adhere to policies, confidentiality and dress code.
• Assist with specimen receipt and transport as workload allows.
