Job summary

Rhoda is building the next generation of generalist robotic systems in Mountain View, CA. We are seeking a senior or staff-level Research Engineer or ML Systems Engineer to make the robot-learning pipeline reliable and measurable from end to end.

You will own the supported path from robot data collection through dataset generation, model training, inference, and real-robot evaluation. This core research systems role emphasizes system judgment and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience owning or debugging complex ML/robotics systems across multiple layers.
• Strong Python software engineering skills, CI, testing and debugging.
• Experience with Linux, containers and modern compute environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the robot-learning pipeline end-to-end including data collection, ingestion, training, inference and real-robot evaluation.
• Define the golden path with known-good code, datasets, configurations, and hardware settings.
• Build automated validation at every interface and ensure dataset migrations and preprocessing behave correctly.
• Create end-to-end regression tests and lightweight canary experiments to catch regressions early.
• Ensure training and inference are consistent across data processing, model config and deployments.
• Make failures observable with instrumentation to diagnose data, model, infra, hardware or env issues.
