Job summary

insitro in South San Francisco seeks a Lead/Senior Machine Learning Scientist to build and deploy ML that derives precise phenotypes from multimodal data, including MRI, EHRs, and omics. You will help predict clinical endpoints and identify therapeutic targets, shaping how ML supports drug discovery.

The role is in-person hybrid (three days/week) and reports to the Head of Integrative Phenotyping. Ideal candidates have a PhD or 5+ years of ML research, strong Python/cloud skills, and a track

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science, ML, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent applied ML research experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying state-of-the-art ML methods for multimodal data.
• Experience with clinical imaging, EHRs, omics, or biomarker data is highly preferred.
• Strong publication record in ML, health, computational biology, or related venues.
• Proficiency in Python in a cloud environment and reusable ML code.

Responsibilities

• Build, productionize, and deploy ML methods to extract phenotypes from large multimodal datasets.
• Model patient state to predict clinical endpoints and identify therapeutic targets.
• Collaborate with ML scientists, clinicians, and software engineers to ship robust solutions.
• Engineer reusable platform components with a focus on rigor and best practices.
