Job summary

LexisNexis Risk Solutions is hiring a Data Scientist to design ML, NLP, and generative AI solutions across US and Mexico locations. You will work with large-scale scientific content, build production-ready AI systems, and partner with cross-functional teams to turn complex challenges into measurable outcomes.

You’ll apply diverse techniques from classification to generative AI, fine-tune LLMs, and develop robust data pipelines using Python and standard DS tools.

Qualifications

• Experiences in data science, ML, AI, NLP, statistics, applied math, CS or related quantitative field.
• Experience with frontier LLMs such as GPTs, Claude, Gemini and fine-tuning LLMs/SLMs.
• Strong Python skills with clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
• Solid grounding in ML fundamentals: supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, evaluation, selection, and metrics.
• Experience with large-scale structured or unstructured data, especially text or content datasets.
• Familiarity with common DS/ML tools like Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Matplotlib.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical, measurable data-driven solutions and to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and build ML, NLP, and generative AI systems for scientific discovery, knowledge extraction, and decision support.
• Work with large-scale, heterogeneous data including publications, datasets, graphs, ontologies, and metadata.
• Apply appropriate techniques: classification, regression, clustering, ranking, feature engineering, deep learning, embeddings, LLMs, retrieval, generative AI.
• Develop capabilities for semantic search, information retrieval, entity extraction, content classification, recommendation, ranking, summarization, QA, and evidence-grounded generation.
• Build, evaluate, fine-tune, prompt, and integrate models into robust production systems with ongoing quality improvements.
• Write clean, tested Python and create reusable data science components and scalable pipelines for preprocessing, inference, experimentation, monitoring, and improvement.
• Support deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining, and optimization of data science systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, UX, analytics, research, and domain experts; communicate technical concepts and trade-offs clearly.
