Gladstone Institutes in Mission Bay seeks an ML Research Engineer to translate AI/ML methods into tools that accelerate neurodegeneration and other disease research. You will collaborate with biologists, imaging scientists, and engineers to design and implement AI-powered analysis pipelines and live-cell imaging platforms that guide experiments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics or related field.
4+ years of related experience with BS/BA or 2+ years with MS.
Experience with deep learning tools PyTorch, JAX, OpenCV, Hugging Face.
Experience with MLOps: Docker, containers, and distributed platforms (Slurm, Kubernetes).
Experience applying ML, DL, CV, transformers, and RL.
Genuine interdisciplinary drive and leadership with ability to explain ML concepts.
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Deploy computer vision and RL pipelines for high-content cellular imaging.
Train, fine-tune, and benchmark multimodal models for pathology and imaging data.
Accelerate computational research by improving AI/ML workflows.
Collaborate on grants, manuscripts, and presentations; develop computational aims.
Translate complex AI concepts for non-technical collaborators.
