Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer to build the foundational infrastructure for feature engineering, model training, and model serving across the company.

The platform powers fraud detection, user personalization, and blockchain analysis, spanning streaming, distributed training, and highly available inference services. You will own ML inference infrastructure, streaming pipelines, and training orchestration, while improving observability and mentoring

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience building distributed systems in production.
• Built and operated low-latency ML infrastructure (streaming pipelines, online serving or distributed training).
• Proven track record mentoring engineers and improving engineering quality through reviews and design discussions.
• Familiarity with ML platform components (feature stores, model serving frameworks, training orchestration) to collaborate with ML engineers.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and reliability of ML inference infrastructure with high availability and low latency at scale.
• Build and optimize low-latency streaming pipelines delivering fresh feature data to models.
• Improve distributed training infrastructure to process large data volumes efficiently.
• Develop observability tooling to monitor data quality and detect degradations affecting model performance.
• Mentor junior engineers to raise the team's engineering standards.
