smarterdx is offering a fully remote U.S.-based Staff Machine Learning Engineer role to lead the design and scaling of a clinical AI platform that interprets electronic health record data and surfaces revenue-cycle recommendations.

The position blends hands-on ML engineering with technical leadership, emphasizing reliable production systems, reusable architecture, and streamlined developer experience across multiple product lines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional development experience with a focus on machine learning engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, plus hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Demonstrated ownership of the end-to-end production model lifecycle, including deployment and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale machine-learning-driven features that support clinical decisioning across multiple products
• Design reusable architecture and shared infrastructure that accelerates ML development organization-wide
• Set and uphold standards for software and ML practices, including code quality, deployment discipline, and observability
• Mentor engineers and influence cross-disciplinary teams to adopt modern ML development practices
• Manage the full production model lifecycle, from training through deployment, release, and post-launch monitoring
• Coordinate delivery using agile methodologies and contribute to project planning for small engineering teams
