Job summary

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer in Glendale, CA. You will define and own the technical architecture for the News & Entertainment ML platform, driving improvements in personalization, recommendation systems, and ML infrastructure at scale.

You will partner with senior leadership, product, and engineering teams to set standards for ML excellence across ABC News, ABC Entertainment, National Geographic, Marvel, and Disney

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years building and operating ML engineering systems in production environments.
• Deep expertise in data science, deep learning, and statistical methods.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end architecture of the N&E ML platform across ABC News, ABC Entertainment, National Geographic, Marvel, and Disney Studios.
• Drive improvements in personalization, recommendation systems, and ML infrastructure at scale.
• Own architecture documents and lead cross‑org reviews and implementations.
• Lead incident response and drive reliability and observability across the ML platform.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align ML goals with business outcomes.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster ownership and technical rigor.
