Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area to lead the development of machine-learning and deep-learning pipelines for processing wearable sensor data.

In this role you will mentor software engineers, decompose complex requirements, present technical options to stakeholders, and collaborate with the Biosensor Features & Algorithms Team to drive end-to-end product development from exploration through deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience building production-ready deep-learning models using Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
• Experience building data preprocessing, feature extraction, and ML training pipelines at scale.
• Strong Python data science repertoire: NumPy, SciPy, pandas, scikit-learn, etc.
• Solid foundation in linear algebra, calculus, statistics, and data science.
• Proven ability to design well-architected software systems and modules.
• Ability to lead software projects and decompose requirements into tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of ML/DL pipelines using wearable sensor data in Python.
• Document options, tradeoffs, and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Serve as Lead Software Engineer for complex designs and reviews.
• Decompose requirements into well-defined tasks and plans.
• Research and implement algorithmic solutions to hard problems.
• Provide peer assessments on technologies and designs.
• Contribute to project planning and product development documents.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive process improvements.
