Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s SEI AI Division seeks a Machine Learning Engineer to advance defensive AI research and build secure, scalable AI systems for government sponsors. You will design, implement, and evaluate ML models using TensorFlow, PyTorch, and modern languages, with emphasis on robustness and security.

You will collaborate with researchers and government partners to translate research results into working prototypes, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the division’s mission

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of machine learning and defense-relevant topics.
• Experience turning research results into functioning prototypes.
• Experience leading technical projects with limited prior work.

Responsibilities

• Building ML models and systems with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and modern languages.
• Technical experimentation across ML frameworks and domains.
• Testing, evaluation, and rapid prototyping in relevant environments.
