Job summary

Spotify seeks an experienced machine learning leader to design, build, and ship production-grade ML systems powering content safety at scale. You will own key initiatives across detection, classification, and policy evaluation, and mentor engineers on ML strategy.

You will develop and maintain models for content moderation, including multimodal and LLM-based systems, while driving robust evaluation and experimentation to improve performance and fairness.

Qualifications

• Experience building and deploying ML systems in production at scale.
• Experience training, evaluating, maintaining ML models with PyTorch.
• Understanding ML evaluation, datasets, metrics, and continuous improvement.
• Design systems balancing performance, reliability and impact in high-stakes domains.
• Focus on safe, responsible, user-centric ML.
• Collaborate with legal, policy, and product stakeholders.
• Experience leading technical projects and influencing direction.
• Experience with distributed systems or backend tech (Scala).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship production-grade ML systems powering content safety at Spotify scale.
• Own and lead key technical initiatives across detection, classification, and policy evaluation systems.
• Develop and maintain ML models for content moderation, including multimodal and LLM-based systems.
• Build robust evaluation frameworks, datasets, offline and online metrics, and improvement loops.
• Drive experimentation to improve model performance, reliability, and fairness in safety-critical systems.
• Collaborate with Trust & Safety, Legal, and Public Affairs to align on policy needs.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineers and shaping ML strategy.
• Represent technical decisions and trade-offs in stakeholder discussions and product direction.
