Job summary

Capstan Medical, Inc. seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the robotics and controls team. You will help our heart valve robot understand its position inside the patient using intraprocedural imaging, enabling image-to-robot registration and pose estimation. This role ships under FDA design controls.

You will shape ML practices, data collection, and model development, influencing tools, data standards, and problem prioritization across the team.

Qualifications

• Real-world ML deployment experience with models in production.
• Strong CV background including pose estimation, registration, or tracking.
• Experience with data pipelines and evaluation harnesses.
• Familiarity with medical imaging data and clinical deployment considerations.

Responsibilities

• Register intraprocedural imaging to the robot.
• Estimate pose of catheters and implants from medical images.
• Combine image-based estimates with robot kinematics and quantify uncertainty.
• Build data pipelines for imaging and robot data for training/evaluation.
• Use simulation and synthetic data when real data is limited.
• Improve device models and controllers from data.
