Job summary

CloudLinux is seeking a Senior ML Engineer for our Imunify360 security suite. You will turn malware data into production-ready detectors, signatures, and triage pipelines, balancing false positives and negatives at fleet scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building ML systems in production, incl. 2+ years in adversarial domains (security, abuse, fraud, or spam).
• Experience training and fine-tuning transformer models (data prep, tokenizing code, LoRA/QLoRA or full fine-tunes, distillation, quantization).
• Strong ML fundamentals: gradient boosting, linear models on sparse features, calibration, class imbalance.
• Experienced with evaluation: time/family leakage-free splits, FP/FN budgets, regression sets.
• Ability to optimize inference cost: throughput/latency, CPU/memory budget (ONNX, llama.cpp, vLLM).
• Proficient Python, PyTorch, Hugging Face; SQL on large analytics tables (ClickHouse).
• Familiarity with PHP or JavaScript or willingness to learn with malware analysts.
• English at upper-Intermediate (B2) level, strong written communication for async work.

Responsibilities

• Decide which files on servers deserve closer review within CPU/memory budgets.
• Distinguish malicious vs benign at fleet scale with cost-aware decisions.
• Generate detection signatures automatically from new campaigns.
• Catch malware that looks malicious in context (phishing pages, script injections).
• Route each file to the appropriate detection engine.
• Make cleanup precise to keep sites clean after detection.
• Prove model improvements before shipping and track FP/FN rates.
