Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for its Delivery Marketplace team in Sunnyvale, CA. You will design, develop, and productionize advanced ML models and matching algorithms to improve dispatch, ETA, pickup optimization, and trip reliability across a large-scale system.

You will lead transformer-based models and embeddings, collaborate across product and engineering teams, and drive ML strategy and roadmap for real-time optimization across billions of trips.

Qualifications

• PhD, MS, or BS in CS/Math with ML focus.
• 3+ years leading ML model development and deployment in large-scale production environments.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, or Go.
• Experience with Spark, Ray, Flink and real-time processing.
• Experience building, training, productionizing ML solutions at scale.
• Understanding of modern ML algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy and roadmap ownership across platform-level architecture, exec alignment, mentorship and cross-team influence.
• Develop online marketplace ML products combining prediction and optimization for efficiency and UX.
• Lead end-to-end design, development and productionization of ML solutions for large-scale distributed systems serving billions of trips.
• Develop transformer-based models to generate embeddings and natural language profiles for Marketplace use cases.
