Job summary

Ambience Healthcare is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to build and improve AI systems powering our clinical products. You will own complex projects from diagnosis to deployment, collaborating with clinicians and engineers to translate cutting-edge research into reliable, production-grade AI solutions.

This hybrid role requires onsite work at our San Francisco office three days per week, with a strong focus on end-to-end ownership of AI systems and continuous improvement of model

Qualifications

• 5+ years in production ML, research engineering, or applied AI.
• Built a production AI system or materially improved model behavior in production.
• Strong understanding of modern LLMs, transformers, and production AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and own evaluation pipelines for LLM and agentic systems.
• Diagnose high-impact failure modes and test improvements across prompting, retrieval, and routing.
• Develop production systems involving tools, retrieval, context, state management, and orchestration.
• Turn production failures and user feedback into better datasets, evaluations, and model behavior.
• Stay at the cutting edge by distilling insights from recent AI research.
• Own AI systems end-to-end: models, data, evaluation, orchestration, serving, and observability.
