Job summary

PlusAI, a Physical AI company, is seeking a machine learning engineer to train and deploy planning algorithms for its autonomous truck fleet. You will develop state-of-the-art models using map and sensor data, design trajectory generation and behavior planning, and own end-to-end ML lifecycle from data to deployment.

You will collaborate across runtime, perception, mapping, and systems teams to ensure safe, robust trajectories and production-ready software.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience developing ML systems for robotics, autonomous driving, or real-time decision-making systems.
• Strong Python programming skills and PyTorch experience.
• Strong understanding of deep learning, sequence modeling, transformers, diffusion models, or other modern ML architectures.
• Experience designing datasets, experiments, validation methodologies, and metric-driven model evaluation.
• Strong software engineering skills and production-quality code.
• Excellent debugging and analytical problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop state-of-the-art ML models for autonomous vehicle planning using rich map, perception, routing, and sensor data.
• Design architectures for trajectory generation, behavior planning, and decision making with emphasis on accuracy, robustness, and efficiency.
• Own end-to-end ML lifecycle: data curation, feature engineering, experimentation, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and improvement.
• Create offline evaluation methodologies, validation pipelines, and metrics for planning quality, safety, robustness, and generalization.
• Analyze model behavior and failure cases; improve performance via systematic experimentation.
• Collaborate with runtime, perception, prediction, mapping, and systems teams to deploy ML solutions to production.
• Design validation strategies and guardrails to ensure feasible, safe trajectories compliant with traffic rules.
• Stay current with ML/robotics advances and translate research into production systems.
• Ensure compliance with QMS, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal processes.
