Job summary

PlusAI Inc. in Silicon Valley is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to design, train, and deploy ML-based planning algorithms for autonomous trucks.

You will own end-to-end ML lifecycle, collaborate with perception, mapping, and systems teams, and push robust, production-ready models from data curation to deployment and monitoring. The role requires 4+ years in robotics/real-time ML, strong Python with PyTorch, and modern ML architectures.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience developing machine learning systems for robotics, autonomous driving, or other real-time decision-making systems.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with PyTorch.
• Strong understanding of deep learning, sequence modeling, transformers, diffusion models, or other modern ML architectures.
• Experience designing datasets, experiments, validation methodologies, and metric-driven model evaluation.
• Strong software engineering skills with production-quality software.
• Excellent debugging and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Experience analyzing edge cases and improving model robustness through experimentation.
• Experience designing validation methodologies, automated testing, and monitoring.
• Strong ownership mindset and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop state-of-the-art machine learning models for autonomous vehicle planning using map, perception, routing, and sensor data.
• Design architectures for trajectory generation and planning balancing accuracy and runtime efficiency.
• Own end-to-end ML lifecycle from data curation to deployment and monitoring.
• Design offline evaluation methods, validation pipelines, and metrics for safety and robustness.
• Analyze model behavior and improve performance through experiments.
• Collaborate with runtime, perception, mapping, and systems teams to deploy ML solutions.
• Design validation strategies and guardrails to ensure feasible and safe trajectories.
• Stay current with ML/robotics advances and translate research into production.
• Ensure compliance with QMS, requirements, regulations, and processes.
