Job summary

Rocket Lab’s Space Systems division seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer II in Tucson, AZ to develop ML models for Optical Systems and to build scalable AI pipelines for real-world space domain applications.

You will train, validate, and deploy deep learning models for EO/IR image processing, collaborate with researchers, and contribute to rapid prototyping for deployment in mission-critical systems. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in CS/EE/related field.
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field is preferred.
• Strong background in machine learning including model selection, training, validation, testing, and deployment.
• Experience building deep learning neural networks for computer vision, image processing, or video analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and deploy ML models for Optical Systems applications.
• Build and maintain ML pipelines for data ingestion, feature engineering, training, and inference.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers on AI/ML and computer vision projects.
• Perform rapid prototyping and integration into operational systems.
• Troubleshoot, fix bugs, and maintain ML systems.
• Stay current with ML research and evaluate new tools and techniques.
