Rocket Lab in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer II to develop and deploy ML models for the Optical Systems division. You will build pipelines, collaborate with AI researchers, and prototype solutions for space-domain challenges.

The role requires advanced ML expertise, strong math, Python proficiency, and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance; US citizenship is required for program work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, or >= a PhD in a related field.
• Strong ML background: model selection, training, validation, testing, and deployment.
• Experience building DL neural networks for computer vision and image processing.
• Strong math background, especially linear algebra.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with ML libraries: Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Software fundamentals: version control, testing, CI/CD, containerization.
• U.S. citizenship is required for program work.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions for real-world space domain problems.
• Design, train, and deploy ML models for Optical Systems.
• Build and maintain ML pipelines for ingestion, feature engineering, training, and inference.
• Collaborate with researchers/engineers on AI and computer vision.
• Perform rapid prototyping and integrate into operational systems.
• Troubleshoot, fix bugs, and maintain systems.
