Job summary

Apple seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with Generative AI expertise to lead production-ready, large-scale NLP systems within ASE. You will influence architecture, guide research-to-production, and mentor teams while delivering impactful AI capabilities across Apple services.

You will advance LLMs, RAG, embeddings, and optimization, collaborating with cross-functional partners to ship safe, scalable experiences for hundreds of millions of users.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent industry experience in AI/ML with production Systems.
• Expert in deep learning and modern NLP, transformer architectures.
• Experience with LLM development, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and deploy LLM-powered systems for personalization and user understanding across Apple’s services.
• Lead research in large-scale representation learning and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Develop embeddings and model architectures for disentanling complex user/content behavior.
• Drive LLM fine-tuning, evaluation, safety alignment, and optimization for production use.
• Explore parameter-efficient adaptation and multi-agent orchestration techniques.
• Collaborate with engineering/product/design to translate problems into robust ML solutions.
• Build prototypes and production-grade systems for reasoning over text and signals at scale.
• Contribute to leadership in AI via publications and patents.
• Mentor researchers to improve experimentation, code quality, and communication.
