Lila Sciences is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to bridge research and production for its Physical Sciences AI team. Cambridge, MA and San Francisco, CA locations apply.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong Python software engineering fundamentals (testing, packaging, typing) and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, Hugging Face).
• Experience deploying AI/ML services in cloud-based infrastructure (FastAPI, containers, orchestration, databases).
• Hands-on experience bringing models to production (deep learning models, LLMs, multimodal models, or RAG).
• Clear communication and collaboration in cross-functional settings.

Responsibilities

• Own models and agentic workflows end to end, from research code to deployed service.
• Build the integration layer for AI agents to call models, tools, simulations, and data services in production.
• Ensure models train correctly and run efficiently; profile memory and compute as workloads grow.
• Design and maintain production AI/ML pipelines with CI/CD, testing, and observability.
• Collaborate with scientists, ML researchers, and platform engineers to shape the AI/ML platform and engineering practices.
