Lila Sciences is seeking a Senior / Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Applied AI to drive model post-training, evaluation, and production-ready ML systems. You will shape how Lila’s AI models are adapted to customer scientific needs, turning frontier capabilities into reliable workflows used in real customer contexts.

Qualifications

• Experience with post-training methods (SFT, RL) and evaluation design.
• Strong Python and PyTorch proficiency.
• Ability to debug complex model behavior with data and traces.
• Familiarity with large language and multi-modal models.
• Clear written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Close the last-mile gap between model capabilities and scientific workflows.
• Run post-training work (SFT, RL) to align models with customer requirements.
• Design and run evaluation loops to measure quality, reliability, and customer fit.
• Translate customer learnings and evaluation results into concrete model improvements.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to translate model advances into usable capabilities.
• Work with software teams to integrate model behavior into end-to-end product workflows.
• Debug complex model failures using traces, evaluations, and customer context.
