Job summary

Instacart’s Enterprise AI organization seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and deploy production ML systems that drive measurable business impact. You will manage the full ML lifecycle from problem formulation to deployment and monitoring.

You will build reliable Python software, collaborate across product, engineering, data science, and business teams, and operate ML services on cloud infrastructure with strong testing and observability practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Five or more years of professional experience developing and deploying machine learning models or systems in production.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, including production-quality code with automated testing, profiling, debugging, and code reviews.
• Experience with the complete ML lifecycle from data preparation to production monitoring.
• Experience building and operating ML services in a cloud environment (GCP or AWS).
• Experience with containerized services and production software practices (Docker, CI, monitoring, alerting).
• Ability to work with product, engineering, data science, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy ML models and services for Enterprise AI products and initiatives.
• Own the full ML lifecycle from problem formulation to deployment and monitoring.
• Build reliable, scalable Python software with strong testing, profiling, and code review practices.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, and business stakeholders to define success metrics and deliver outcomes.
• Develop and operate ML services on cloud infrastructure with proper observability and safeguards.
