Job summary

Instacart’s Enterprise AI team is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and deploy production ML systems with measurable business impact. You’ll own the full lifecycle from problem framing to monitoring, collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and engineers across the organization.

This fast-moving role requires strong ML and software fundamentals, excellent collaboration, and the ability to translate ambiguous opportunities into reliable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience developing and deploying ML models or systems in production.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with production-grade testing and debugging.
• Experience across the ML lifecycle: data prep, feature engineering, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring.
• Experience building ML services in cloud environments (GCP/AWS) and containerized apps.
• Experience with Docker, CI, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Ability to work with product, engineering, data science, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy ML models and services for enterprise AI products.
• Own the full ML lifecycle from problem formulation to production monitoring.
• Build reliable software in Python with strong testing, profiling, and code reviews.
• Partner with stakeholders to define success metrics and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Develop and operate ML services on cloud infrastructure with observability and safety guards.
• Use experiments and causal evaluation to guide launches and model quality.
• Contribute to technical direction through reviews and architecture discussions.
• Mentor teammates and support operations for critical services.
